In an enthusiastic presentation at the recent government meeting, Sarah Lynch provided an exciting update on the upcoming 9th Queen City Magic Festival, set to take place on the 28th and 29th of this month in downtown Stanton, Virginia. This year’s theme, celebrating the Year of the Dragon, aligns with the Chinese New Year and promises a vibrant atmosphere across 16 blocks of the city.
Lynch highlighted the festival's unique activities, including a new initiative inspired by popular culture, where attendees can collect beads at various locations to create bracelets with secret phrases. This interactive element aims to engage visitors in a creative way, reminiscent of previous years' trading card activities.
Since its inception in 2016, the festival has grown significantly, attracting thousands of participants and establishing Stanton as a cultural hub in the Shenandoah Valley. Lynch noted that the event is entirely volunteer-run, with over 200 volunteers already signed up to assist, including local cadets who will enhance the festival's magical ambiance.
The festival has garnered substantial attention on social media, with recent promotional posts reaching nearly 400,000 views in just three days. Lynch expressed gratitude for the support from the Virginia Tourism Corporation, which has helped elevate the festival's profile through promotional materials distributed across welcome centers.
As the festival approaches its 10th anniversary next year, Lynch emphasized the collaborative spirit of the community, with numerous local businesses and organizations contributing to the event's success. She encouraged residents and visitors alike to embrace the magic of Stanton, promising an unforgettable experience filled with surprises and community spirit.
