During a recent government meeting, officials addressed multiple violations concerning a property deemed unfit for human occupancy. The violations cited include serious structural issues under the International Property Maintenance Code (IPMC), specifically referencing unsafe conditions related to the exterior structure, roofs, drainage, and various structural components.
The city has recommended that a special magistrate formally recognize these violations, which include IPMC 111.1.3 (structure unfit for human occupancy) and IPMC 304.1.1 (unsafe conditions). The city is urging that violators be granted a 60-day period to obtain the necessary permits for repairs or demolition. Furthermore, any structural repairs must be accompanied by signed and sealed plans from a registered design professional.
To ensure compliance, the city has proposed that inspections occur at least every 180 days until the permit is closed. Failure to comply with these requirements could result in a fine of $100 per day. Notably, a reroof permit has already been issued for the property, indicating some progress in addressing the ongoing issues.
