In a recent government meeting, discussions centered around proposed changes to school schedules based on feedback from educators and parents. Jennifer Singleton, a key figure in the conversation, provided insights from her staff regarding the timing of sessions for early childhood and high school students.
The proposal suggests a shift to a 45-minute morning session for early childhood education, addressing concerns that afternoon sessions may not be effective for younger students. For high school, feedback indicated a preference for a later start time of 9:05 AM instead of 8:05 AM, aligning with the needs of both high school and elementary students.
The meeting revealed that 72.8% of survey respondents expressed strong support for the proposed schedule changes. The new schedule includes adjustments such as an office hour for elementary students immediately following online sessions, and a structured office hour for high school students from 11:30 AM to 12:30 PM.
Additionally, the meeting highlighted the importance of effective communication regarding AMI (Alternative Methods of Instruction) days. Plans were discussed to enhance communication strategies, including updating the school website, creating a FAQ section for families, and producing a video to clarify the changes. Staff meetings will also be utilized to ensure teachers are well-informed about the new schedule and communication efforts.
The proposed changes reflect a collaborative approach to improving educational experiences, with a focus on accommodating the needs of students and families.
