Derek Toomey, a carpenter and local resident, highlighted the project's importance, stating that it would provide working-class families with essential resources, allowing them to prioritize necessities like groceries and healthcare without financial strain. He urged the commission to support the project, noting that delays from the Navy had previously hindered progress in the area.

Anthony Manhiva, also a carpenter, echoed these sentiments, advocating for the project as it currently stands. He cautioned against adding more demands that could jeopardize its feasibility, stressing the need for affordable housing and job creation. He pointed out that 34% of the units are already designated as affordable, which he believes is a significant step forward.

Andrea Baker, executive director of Interaction Inc., reported on community engagement efforts, noting that over 180 residents participated in workshops to discuss the development. Other speakers, including local business owners and residents, reinforced the project's potential to revitalize the Bayview area, create jobs, and foster a sense of pride among long-time residents.
