In a recent government meeting, the local fire chief announced an engaging lineup of activities for Fire Prevention Week, emphasizing community involvement and education. The highlight of the week will be an open house event scheduled for tomorrow from 4:30 PM to 7:00 PM at the main fire station located at 46100 Main. This event will feature hands-on activities for children, including the opportunity to drag a dummy, pull a hose, and spray water in a miniature firehouse.

The fire department has partnered with Hy-Vee, which will provide snacks and trinkets for attendees, including popular fire helmets for kids. The chief noted that the event aims to promote fire safety awareness among young attendees, aligning with this year's theme: \"Make Smoke Alarms Work for You.\"

In addition to the open house, the fire department is visiting local elementary schools to deliver fire prevention talks and distribute coloring contest bags. Children who participate in the coloring contest will have a chance to win a ride to school on a fire truck, a popular incentive that reinforces fire safety education.

On Saturday, October 12th, the fire department will also set up a truck at Hy-Vee from 10 AM to noon, allowing children to practice spraying water again. The chief expressed enthusiasm for the events and encouraged community members to attend, ensuring a fun and educational experience for families.
