In a recent government meeting, officials discussed a proposal from SNK Holdings LLC to amend their special exception to allow for 24-hour towing services at their site, which also hosts two automobile repair businesses. The site, located in a mixed-use area of residential and commercial development, has been deemed suitable for the proposed changes, with no significant traffic impacts or road improvements required.
The meeting highlighted that the site is adequately accessed via a public road and that existing natural screening from woodland ensures that the area where towed vehicles will be parked remains largely hidden from view. There are no known issues related to noise, odor, or other nuisances, and the development poses no threats to local wildlife or plant habitats.
Officials noted the proximity of a church and a school within a mile of the site but confirmed that these factors do not present any unacceptable impacts. After a brief discussion, the staff recommended forwarding a favorable recommendation to the Kent County Board of Appeals regarding the proposal.
The motion to support the amendment for towing services was made without any public opposition or correspondence, indicating community acceptance of the changes. The Board of Appeals will now consider the recommendation as part of their decision-making process.
