During a recent government meeting in Eustis, community leaders highlighted the significant contributions of local organizations in addressing food insecurity and supporting residents. The meeting featured representatives from Lake Cares and Love Extension, both of which reported on their impactful initiatives.
Kelsey Gonzales, Executive Director of Lake Cares, shared that the organization served over 66,000 Lake County residents last year, with more than 10,000 of those being Eustis residents. She emphasized ongoing partnerships with local organizations, including a new collaboration with Ford Pass for tiny homes, which aims to provide food assistance while encouraging community engagement. Gonzales also noted the successful public service day, where volunteers distributed 24,500 pounds of food to over 300 residents, showcasing the community's commitment to helping those in need.
Love Extension's representative expressed gratitude for the city's support, particularly during a recent food drive that yielded record donations. The organization focuses on providing specialized food bags for seniors, ensuring they receive appropriate dietary options. They reported serving 231 individuals in Eustis and highlighted various community partnerships that enhance their outreach efforts.
Both organizations underscored the importance of collaboration and community involvement in their missions, reflecting a strong commitment to improving the lives of Eustis residents. The meeting concluded with a check presentation to Lake Cares, further solidifying the city's support for local initiatives aimed at fostering a healthier and more connected community.
