Since 2002, the population has surged from approximately 45,100 to around 12,000, with many new faces frequenting local establishments, indicating a vibrant community transformation.
The local economy is thriving, with around 125 new small retailers and a noticeable increase in restaurants and service industries over the past few years. This growth is complemented by a substantial investment in housing, with nearly $230 million worth of new homes constructed in the last five years, including two large subdivisions. The diverse range of housing options is attracting a variety of residents, from young families to retirees seeking smaller living spaces.
Sales tax revenue has also seen a remarkable increase, nearly doubling from $5 million in 2018-2019 to approximately $12 million by the end of 2024. This financial boost reflects the positive impact of the growing population and expanding business landscape on the city’s economy.
