During a recent council meeting, the city of Lansing recognized two local heroes for their life-saving efforts in a critical emergency. Police Chief Megan presented a life-saving award to Officer Jory Bell and community member Kim Boleski for their quick actions on September 6, when they responded to a 911 call about an individual who had fallen unconscious in a ditch.
Officer Bell arrived at the scene and utilized an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) while performing CPR. Boleski, who happened to be nearby, joined in to assist with CPR, demonstrating the importance of community involvement in emergency situations. Their combined efforts, along with the timely arrival of Fire District 1 EMS, led to the successful transport of the individual to the hospital, where he has since recovered and returned home.
The council expressed gratitude for the dedication shown by both Bell and Boleski, highlighting the significance of their actions in saving a life. Certificates of appreciation were presented to both individuals, acknowledging their bravery and commitment to the community.
In addition to the awards, the meeting included a presentation on the results of a community satisfaction survey by Rachel Snyder and Dave Santee from True North Market Insights, indicating ongoing efforts to engage with residents and improve local services. The council continues to prioritize community involvement and responsiveness in its initiatives.
