In a recent government meeting, city officials discussed an amended site plan for a residential development that has sparked community interest. Originally approved in 2022, the site plan featured a four-story building with 45 residential units at a density of 30 units per acre, accompanied by 90 parking spaces. The new proposal, however, seeks to reduce the scale to a three-story gated community comprising 21 garage-entry lofts, resulting in a lower density of 13.46 units per acre and a total of 53 parking spaces.
The revised plan includes two parking spaces per garage, with an additional 11 standard spaces to be provided through a shared parking agreement. Community feedback has been mixed; of the 15 notices mailed regarding the project, two were returned in favor and one opposed, leading to a protest calculation of 21%. This level of opposition means that a three-fourths majority vote from the city council will be necessary for the plan to move forward.
City staff conducted a thorough review of the application and reported no significant impact on local services or facilities due to the proposed changes. They found the amended site plan generally consistent with approval criteria and recommended its approval. The meeting concluded with an invitation for public comments, highlighting ongoing community engagement in the development process.
