In a recent government meeting, discussions centered around proposed changes to the entrance of a property adjacent to Marathon, specifically focusing on the east and west entrances. Local business owner Jacob Burke raised concerns regarding the accessibility of the entrance next to Marathon, particularly for larger vehicles such as semis and RVs that frequent his establishment, Arnold Motor Supply.
Burke emphasized the importance of maintaining a larger entrance to accommodate heavy traffic, as the current design includes a central island that could hinder access. He expressed worries that any modifications could lead to traffic congestion and negatively impact his business.
In response, officials clarified that the entrance in question would remain open, despite earlier considerations to close it. Adjustments will be made to improve traffic flow, including the removal of part of the central island to facilitate easier access to the parking lot. The north exit of the property will also remain unchanged.
The meeting highlighted the importance of community input in urban planning, as local business owners seek to ensure that infrastructure changes do not adversely affect their operations. The officials assured attendees that they would continue to address concerns and maintain open lines of communication as the project progresses.
