In a recent government meeting, officials discussed a significant redevelopment project that involves the demolition of existing structures and the construction of a new mixed-use building at the intersection of Goodwin and Cortez. The proposed four-story building will feature 104 guest rooms, two retail spaces, and one restaurant, with a height ranging from 46 to 48 feet.

The current city hall, which dates back to the late 1800s, is eligible for historical registration due to its age but is in a state of disrepair, leading to the decision not to pursue its nomination. The project site consists of four separate parcels that will be combined for the redevelopment.

Renderings presented during the meeting showcased the architectural design, which aims to create the visual effect of multiple buildings through varied exterior wall articulations and parapet heights. The project also includes plans for 114 on-site parking spaces, accessible from Cortez on the first floor and via an alley on the second floor. The building's finishes will incorporate smooth-faced limestone and brick veneer, aligning with modern design aesthetics while contributing to the area's urban landscape.

Community members were encouraged to participate in the discussion by submitting comment cards, indicating a commitment to public engagement in the planning process.
