A vibrant new event is set to light up Lake Travis this October, combining the allure of hot air balloons with the festive atmosphere of a beer festival. The event promises tethered balloons illuminated at night, alongside a selection of local brews and live music, creating a unique experience for attendees.

In addition to the upcoming festival, the Lago Vista City Council discussed community engagement initiatives, including a monthly coffee gathering for veterans scheduled for October 18th at the Hope Center. This event aims to foster connections and support among local veterans.

Council member Mister Song also highlighted his participation in the St. Mary's Festival, where he will be in a dunking booth, encouraging community members to join in the fun. The festival is expected to draw significant local interest.

Moreover, the council announced a citywide trash cleanup event on October 12th, organized by Keep Lago Vista Beautiful (KLVB). Volunteers are invited to meet at the Bar K Oaks facility at 9 AM to help clean up various areas around the city.

In a show of support for educators, the council proclaimed October 5, 2024, as Lago Vista Teachers' Day. The meeting also celebrated the achievements of Detective Sergeant Frank Aloka, who recently graduated from the prestigious Bill Blackwood Law Enforcement Management Institute of Texas Leadership Command College. This program is recognized for its rigorous training and leadership development for law enforcement officers, with only a small percentage of Texas officers having completed it.
