In a recent government meeting, officials outlined a comprehensive plan for debris removal in North Augusta, categorizing efforts into four distinct groups. The primary focus will be on state-controlled roads, particularly major thoroughfares like Martintown and Georgia Avenue, which are deemed top priorities by the South Carolina Department of Transportation (SCDOT).
Officials noted that while interstates and major highways take precedence, state roads within neighborhoods will be addressed last. To expedite the debris removal process, a contract with Aiken County is being pursued, as it is expected to facilitate quicker action compared to SCDOT contracts. Public Works Director Tom Zizor has been tasked with assessing the most efficient approach, ultimately favoring the county contract for its speed.
