Smith emphasized that his department operates through two main divisions: the Workforce Division and the Mohave County Housing Authority, with a particular focus on the workforce aspect during his presentation.

Smith reported a concerning statistic: 921 individuals in Mohave County experienced homelessness for the first time this year. He underscored the importance of community collaboration through the Continuum of Care (CLC), which he chairs, to tackle these challenges effectively. The CLC has successfully brought together various organizations to enhance service delivery and support for those in need.

A key tool in their efforts is the Atlas community resource referral system, which facilitates electronic referrals among approximately 75 community partners. This system ensures that individuals seeking assistance receive timely support, as agencies can expect clients referred to them, creating a \"warm handoff\" process.

Smith also shared the success of a recent community event organized by the CLC, which attracted 191 participants. At this event, 101 individuals received immediate assistance, including job interviews, clothing, and other resources. Notably, seven people secured employment on the spot, demonstrating the event's impact on changing lives.

As federal COVID-19 relief funds begin to diminish, Smith stressed the importance of showcasing successful outcomes to secure future grants and support. He concluded by mentioning an ongoing housing needs assessment conducted by the Mohave County Housing Authority, indicating a comprehensive approach to addressing both housing and employment challenges in the region.
