During a recent board meeting, Crowley Independent School District (ISD) officials provided an encouraging update on student enrollment, revealing a total of 17,106 students currently enrolled. This figure includes 8,052 elementary students and 8,962 secondary students, indicating a steady growth trend within the district.
Miss Bettis, who presented the enrollment data, noted that while the district is not yet meeting the highest projections from the demographer's report, it remains on track and is positioned well within expected growth parameters. A quarterly review with the demographer is scheduled for the coming weeks, which will provide further insights into enrollment trends.
Trustee Davis raised concerns about the number of students still awaiting enrollment, which is primarily due to pending parent documentation. Bettis assured the board that the district is responsive to these needs and is actively working to seat new students. Additionally, the board will soon vote on classroom size waivers, reflecting an increase in requests compared to previous years. However, the opening of a new elementary school next fall is expected to alleviate some of the pressure on classroom sizes.
The meeting also highlighted the district's ongoing commitment to quality education, with Mister Kirschner summarizing the school quality reports that align with the district's goals of fostering thriving students, engaging the community, and empowering staff. The reports underscore the positive developments within Crowley ISD, reinforcing its reputation as a desirable educational environment.
