During a recent Planning and Zoning Commission meeting, officials discussed the upcoming public hearings related to a conditional use permit for a commercial project. The hearings are scheduled to take place tonight and at a future Town Council meeting. A sign has been posted on-site, and notifications were sent to residents within a 300-foot radius, in compliance with local and state regulations.
A neighborhood meeting was held on September 12, 2024, at the community center, but no members of the public attended. Despite the lack of public engagement, the meeting remained open for questions from the applicant. No inquiries or comments were received from the public or the applicant regarding the project.
Staff members recommended approval of the conditional use permit, citing that the proposed commercial use is appropriately zoned and poses no negative impact on the surrounding area. The site is situated away from residential homes and has access to major roadways, with traffic assessments indicating a maximum of 85 vehicles per day, which is considered low.
The Planning and Zoning Commission is expected to make a recommendation to the Town Council, which could include approval, conditional approval, or denial of the permit. The meeting will also include a public hearing, allowing for community input despite the earlier lack of attendance.
