Megan Quickel from Broken Arrow Neighbors presented alongside Child Nutrition Director, Ms. McNally, detailing the innovative \"share table\" initiative implemented across the district. This program allows students to place unwanted food items on designated tables for others to take, minimizing waste. However, the initiative faced challenges, leading to a collaboration with Broken Arrow Neighbors to donate surplus food directly to families in the community.

In 2023, Broken Arrow Neighbors reported providing over 68,000 services to local residents, with a 15% increase in service delivery in the first nine months of 2024. The partnership with the school district has already yielded impressive results, with the Freshman Academy donating 207 pounds and the high school contributing 156 pounds of fresh produce daily. Quickel emphasized the importance of this collaboration, noting that the donated items are distributed to families the very next day.

The meeting also recognized outstanding educators and students, including Mr. Chris Bailey, who received an award for engaging students in mathematics beyond the classroom. Bailey acknowledged the contributions of his colleagues, highlighting the achievements of two teachers who participated in a fellowship to learn about the Holocaust and bring those lessons back to their classrooms.

Additionally, the district celebrated seven National Merit semifinalists, acknowledging their exceptional academic achievements and the support they received from dedicated teachers. Brenda Lewis, an AP English teacher, introduced the students, emphasizing their leadership qualities and positive impact on the school community.
