The upcoming Christmas event in the community is set for Sunday, December 8th, from 4:30 PM to 7 PM, promising a festive atmosphere with a variety of activities. This year, the event will feature traditional horse and wagon rides, appearances by Santa and Mrs. Claus at Terry Russo's frame shop, and a range of activities hosted at Zion Lutheran Church, including a green screen photo booth, kids' crafts, food trucks, and live music.
A highlight of this year's celebration will be the introduction of a Christmas tree contest at Parker Square. Organizers have partnered with a commercial company to provide durable decorations, including a 25-foot retractable flagpole and two 20-foot trees, all adorned with warm white lights. Local residents and businesses will have the opportunity to purchase and decorate fresh trees, with a contest to determine the best-decorated tree. Prizes will include cash awards for the top three winners, along with donations to charities of their choice.
The event will culminate in a grand lighting ceremony at Parker Square at 6:30 PM, where all decorations will be illuminated simultaneously. Preparations for the event will begin on November 3rd, with volunteers needed to assist in the setup. Interested participants can sign up for the tree contest starting November 4th, with details to be posted on community social media platforms and at city hall.
The community is encouraged to participate and contribute to the festive spirit, with the promise of a beautiful and engaging holiday celebration.
