During a recent government meeting, the achievements of high school students in advanced placement (AP) courses were celebrated, highlighting the growing success of local educational institutions. The AP Scholar Awards recognize students who have excelled in AP exams, providing them with a prestigious academic distinction that enhances their college applications and resumes.
Isaro High School has notably doubled its number of AP courses and student participation since 2018, maintaining high performance levels among students. This year, East Aurora High School led with 103 AP Scholars, a significant increase from 65 the previous year, showcasing the school’s commitment to academic excellence.
Principal Jennifer Mitchell of East Aurora High School joined the meeting to present certificates to the award recipients. Students were recognized for their achievements in various categories, including those who scored 3 or higher in AP Seminar and AP Research, as well as those who earned the AP Capstone Diploma by excelling in additional AP exams.
The AP Scholar designation was awarded to numerous students who achieved scores of 3 or higher on three or more AP exams. Additionally, several students received the AP Scholar with Honor Award, which requires an average score of at least 3.25 across all AP exams taken.
The meeting underscored the importance of AP programs in preparing students for college-level coursework and fostering a culture of academic achievement within the community.
