During a recent government meeting, council members discussed the future direction of electric vehicle (EV) infrastructure in the city. Councilor Rhine, who initiated the discussion, emphasized the need for clear guidance on the matter, which has garnered support from the full council. Members considered two potential approaches: either to independently formulate recommendations without staff assistance, as has been done in previous cases, or to await staff presentations on the plans for evaluation.
The council agreed to place the EV infrastructure issue on the agenda for the next meeting, signaling a commitment to further explore this critical topic.
In addition to the EV discussion, scheduling updates were provided. A hearing is set for October 16 regarding rezoning at 86100 West Dakota Avenue, with an art plan approval scheduled for November 6. Council members were reminded to communicate any potential conflicts for upcoming meetings, particularly on November 20, when some members may be unavailable due to travel.
Lastly, procedural notes were shared regarding the use of Zoom for virtual participation in meetings. Members were encouraged to provide at least one day's notice for virtual attendance to facilitate proper setup, while also being reminded of the city council's rules prohibiting virtual participation in quasi-judicial matters.
