During a recent government meeting, representatives from Sheetz provided insights into their operations and safety measures at their new location in Farmington Hills. The discussion highlighted the low traffic volume at the site, with peak usage recorded at just nine cars per hour during noon and only two cars per hour in the middle of the night.
Safety was a primary focus for Sheetz, with officials emphasizing their commitment to creating a secure environment for both employees and customers. They noted that Sheetz is not a magnet for crime, citing their extensive security measures, including a state-of-the-art security operations center staffed around the clock. The company utilizes over 60 high-definition cameras to monitor their premises and maintains strong relationships with local police departments to enhance safety.
In addressing concerns about the nature of their fueling station, Sheetz clarified that their Farmington Hills location is not a truck stop. The facility will offer automobile diesel but lacks the capacity and services typically associated with truck stops, such as bulk diesel exhaust fluid. The design of the site is not conducive to accommodating large semi-trucks, which further differentiates it from traditional truck stop operations.
Additionally, Sheetz outlined their fuel offerings, which include standard gasoline options and specialty fuels like flex fuel and ethanol-free gasoline, catering to a variety of customer needs. The meeting underscored Sheetz's proactive approach to safety and community engagement as they establish their presence in Michigan.
