The Denton City Council recently discussed the progress of a comprehensive transportation project that began in June 2023 and has now entered its adoption phase. The project, structured in four phases, aims to address current transportation issues and support local businesses.
Phase one focused on assessing existing conditions and identifying key challenges within the community. This foundational work laid the groundwork for the second phase, which is set to run from fall 2023 through early 2024. During this envision phase, various strategies and approaches will be developed based on extensive community engagement.
The third phase, scheduled for February to May 2024, will concentrate on creating a clear implementation plan. This phase will outline actionable steps to achieve the project’s goals, ensuring that recommendations are effectively translated into practice.
The final phase, recently adopted by the council, marks the beginning of a long-term vision for Denton’s transportation landscape, projected to unfold over the next 15 to 20 years. While immediate visible changes may not be apparent, the initial years will focus on establishing necessary policies and ordinances. Over the next five to ten years, residents can expect to see tangible improvements as the plan is put into action.
