A vibrant community celebration took place yesterday at Risdale Park, marking the successful Southwest Fest from 2 to 5 PM. The event featured resources, giveaways, a kids' zone, and performances by local DJs, drawing attention to the efforts of the Southwest Action Group (SWAG) in fostering community spirit in Southwest Lansing. Council members, including Tamara Carter and Councilman Coss, were present to show their support.

Looking ahead, SWAG will hold a general membership meeting tomorrow at 6 PM at 2101 West Homes, where attendees can learn about upcoming developments, including an exciting project at the northeast corner of Pleasant Grove and Homes. The Lansing Eaton Neighborhood Organization will also meet this Thursday, October 3rd, at 6:30 PM at Wood Creek School, inviting residents from the west of Waverly to participate.

Additionally, a cleanup event is scheduled for October 5th from 10 AM to noon at Town Square, aimed at preparing the area for upcoming holiday festivities. The Southwest Lansing constituent contact meeting will follow on October 12th, providing a platform for community discussions.

On October 17th, the South MLK Corridor Improvement Authority will convene at 1 PM to advance development plans for the corridor, emphasizing the importance of stakeholder involvement.

In other news, Councilman Cost highlighted the success of the Friends of Lansing's Historic Cemetery Scattered Soul event, which attracted around 100 participants and celebrated local history. He also announced the South Lansing Business Association's annual cleanup event this Wednesday from 3 to 5 PM at Saint Michael's Episcopal Church, encouraging community members to join in.
