The Corpus Christi International Airport has unveiled significant enhancements, including a new outdoor patio and an indoor lounge, set to open this Thursday. The 1,200 square foot elevated outdoor patio, featuring glass walls and a service animal relief area, offers panoramic views of the airfield and ample seating for travelers. The improvements, managed by Spa Glass and completed on October 3rd, were largely funded by the Federal Aviation Administration, covering 90% of the costs, with the remaining 10% sourced from airport revenues.
The new lounge, operated by Nueces Brewing and Barbecuing, includes a horseshoe-shaped bar, multiple TVs, and charging ports for electronic devices, accommodating up to 23 guests. This facility aims to enhance the traveler experience by providing a relaxing space and a wider variety of food and beverage options, contributing to the airport's modern image.
City officials highlighted that these upgrades will not only benefit travelers but also support local businesses, as the airport operates as a self-supported enterprise, independent of local taxes. Future projects at the airport include additional concessions such as Joe's Coffee and an Amazon Just Walk Out store, further expanding amenities for visitors. The enhancements are expected to generate increased revenue through food and beverage sales, reinforcing the airport's role as a vital hub for the community.
