During a recent government meeting, city officials discussed the success and future of the Eversight Health Clinic, which provides free medical services to city employees. The clinic, which opened in 2022, has reportedly saved the city $1.65 million in healthcare costs over its first two years of operation.
The clinic aims to reduce expenses by offering employees access to primary care services, thereby minimizing the need for external medical consultations. In its first month, the clinic recorded 79 visits, which surged to 250 visits in its highest month this year, reflecting a significant increase in utilization. On average, visits rose from 109 in 2022 to 180 this year.
To enhance service delivery, city officials proposed adding a medical assistant at an annual cost of approximately $84,000. This addition is seen as necessary to maintain the quality of care as demand continues to grow.
While the initial plan included collaboration with other governmental bodies to further reduce overhead costs, only the pipe fitters union has joined the initiative so far. City officials are actively seeking additional partnerships to expand the clinic's reach.
Council members expressed their support for the clinic, highlighting its positive impact on employee health and its role in making the city a desirable employer. The resolution to add the medical assistant was passed unanimously, underscoring the council's commitment to the clinic's ongoing success.
