During a recent Oak Park Village Board meeting, significant discussions centered around the approval of new liquor licenses aimed at enhancing local dining and entertainment options. Trustee Wesley recused himself from a vote due to a potential conflict of interest related to his nonprofit organization focused on local restaurants.
The board unanimously approved an ordinance granting a Class B6 liquor license to C Parlato LLC, operating as Ciro, an Italian restaurant that allows customers to bring their own beer and wine. Owner Ciro Parlato expressed his commitment to showcasing regional Italian cuisine and fostering partnerships with nearby businesses, particularly a local wine merchant. The Liquor Control Review Board had previously recommended the approval, highlighting the potential for increased business and community engagement.
In addition, the board discussed the creation of a new Class D19 liquor license for arts and crafts establishments, which would permit the sale of beer, wine, and champagne during craft-making activities. This initiative aims to support the growing trend of paint-and-sip events and similar activities in the area. The proposed ordinance mandates that at least 50% of the establishment's space be dedicated to craft-making, and food must be served alongside alcohol to mitigate overconsumption. The board amended the proposed closing time for alcohol service from 10 PM to 11 PM, reflecting a compromise to better accommodate local businesses.
Trustees also approved a resolution for the 2024 Community Development Block Grant, which will benefit 19 local organizations, and discussed an intergovernmental agreement with Oak Park Township to enhance youth engagement programs. The meeting underscored the village's commitment to fostering local business growth and community development through strategic partnerships and regulatory updates.
