In a recent government meeting, officials discussed a proposed rezoning of a property located at 700 Ringling Boulevard, currently designated as Metropolitan Regional under the future land use plan. The property, which is presently zoned for medical charitable institutional use, is set to be rezoned to RMF 5 to facilitate the construction of a new building featuring 153 independent living units.
The proposed development will include amenity areas and support facilities, with the building reaching a height of 115 feet, which is 90 feet above the planned three levels of parking. The project aims to enhance the existing parking situation, increasing the total number of parking spaces from 373 to 639, despite some spaces being removed during construction.
Access to the property will remain unchanged, continuing off Raymond Boulevard. The architectural firm RLPS Architects, which specializes in nonprofit retirement communities, is leading the project. They plan to improve the entry experience with a new landscape design and will incorporate a vehicular drop-off area for residents and visitors.
The meeting highlighted the importance of this development in providing additional independent living options in the area, reflecting a growing demand for such facilities. Further details on the project are expected as the planning process continues.
