Council addresses emergency measures ahead of Hurricane Milton

In a recent city council meeting, the session commenced with an invocation led by Reverend Elsie Gustafson, a priest associate at the Church of the Good Shepherd in Riverside. Reverend Gustafson, who has a diverse background in ministry and holds degrees from prestigious institutions, emphasized the importance of community support during challenging times, particularly as Hurricane Milton approaches.

Following the invocation, council members were informed of procedural changes due to the impending storm. Council President announced that all committee meetings originally scheduled for Tuesday, November 5, would be rescheduled to Wednesday, November 6, to accommodate the election. Additionally, city offices will be closed on Wednesday and Thursday in light of the declared state of emergency.

The council also noted that public comments would be held before 5 PM, with no agenda items scheduled for public hearing until that time. This meeting highlighted the council's commitment to ensuring public safety and maintaining civic engagement during adverse weather conditions.
