A local entrepreneur has announced the opening of his 64th restaurant in Walnut Creek, revitalizing a location that has been closed for eight years. The new establishment, inspired by the nostalgic Bing Crosby's piano lounge, aims to fill a gap in the local dining scene, particularly for patrons aged 40 and up seeking post-dinner entertainment.
The owner, who first opened Havana 22 years ago, expressed his commitment to enhancing the Walnut Creek community through innovative dining concepts. He noted that the area has seen increased competition from neighboring towns, but he remains dedicated to providing unique experiences that cater to local preferences.
The decision to reopen the long-vacant property came after a chance meeting with Nagarro, the building's owner. Their collaboration, facilitated by city officials and the police department, has been pivotal in bringing this project to fruition. The new venue will feature a dueling piano bar, a concept that has been in the works for several years but was delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
In his remarks, the owner emphasized the importance of community engagement, having sought input from residents on what they want from local nightlife. He acknowledged the challenges facing the restaurant industry, particularly rising costs, but remains optimistic about the potential for success in Walnut Creek. The new restaurant is set to offer a diverse menu and a vibrant atmosphere, aiming to become a staple in the downtown area.
