In a recent government meeting, officials discussed significant updates regarding local park developments, including the redesign of a splash pad and the future of Glenifer Hill Park.
The meeting highlighted plans for a new water feature that combines a splash pad with a tranquil water wall, aimed at enhancing the park's appeal. Officials emphasized the importance of maintaining a serene atmosphere, despite the addition of the splash pad. They assured that the water wall would operate outside the splash pad's hours, allowing for a peaceful experience for visitors. The parks currently have a curfew of either 11 PM or midnight, which may influence the operational hours of the new features.
Additionally, the old splash pad is set to be removed to make way for an expanded playground area, creating distinct wet and dry zones for children. The existing stream feature, which has been problematic due to safety concerns, will also be demolished as part of the redesign.
The meeting also addressed the status of Glenifer Hill Park, which is being considered for surplus designation and potential sale. Officials have initiated a public notification process to inform nearby residents, with feedback being collected until October 28. If approved, the proceeds from the sale will be allocated to a new playground at Indian Rock.
The meeting concluded with updates on various projects, including security enhancements at Pestinger Family Stadium and ongoing efforts to improve park facilities. The city commission will review the Glenifer Hill Park proposal later this month, marking a crucial step in the park's future development.
