In a recent government meeting, officials unveiled the final design for the Main Street core streetscape, marking a significant step forward in urban development for the area. The design features a range of enhancements, including pavers, landscaping, trees, benches, and trash receptacles, aimed at revitalizing the downtown section.
Currently, funding is secured for the engineering and construction of Phase 1, which focuses on the area in front of Heller High Water. The design also includes decorative elements such as string lights strung across the street and welcoming arch signs at either end of the downtown area, which will be implemented in later phases.
City officials expressed their commitment to securing additional funding through grants and council requests to complete the remaining phases of the project. The aim is to expedite the overall completion of the streetscape enhancements.
During the discussion, it was confirmed that the landscaping will incorporate drought-tolerant plants and will be equipped with drip irrigation to promote sustainability. The design also accommodates future events by including designated areas for vendor booths, ensuring that the space can be utilized for community festivals and gatherings.
As the project progresses, city leaders remain optimistic about enhancing the downtown experience for residents and visitors alike.
