In a recent government meeting, the application for a new parish hall at Saint Peter Catholic Church was approved, contingent upon several requirements including a water main easement and site improvements. The proposal, presented by architect Patrick Hyland, involves a 1,000 square foot addition to accommodate the growing needs of the church community, including an event space for up to 200 people. The project aims to enhance accessibility with the installation of an elevator, allowing easier access to the sanctuary.
However, the approval came with specific recommendations, including a shared parking allowance and a variance for building setbacks. The church's existing front setback is 30 feet 7 inches, while the code requires a minimum of 50 feet. The proposed addition would encroach further into this non-conforming setback by 6 feet 1 inch.
Director Lieber also provided updates on several planning initiatives. A draft diagnosis from the ongoing zoning code review is currently under review, while the active transportation plan, developed in collaboration with the Northeast Ohio Areawide Coordinating Agency (NOWACA), is nearing finalization. Traffic studies in two city regions are also underway, focusing on key intersections to inform future planning decisions.
The meeting concluded with a call for any additional reports or correspondence, emphasizing the ongoing commitment to community development and infrastructure improvements.
