During a recent government meeting, the Rutherford County Board celebrated the success of the Area 16 Special Olympics Bowling Tournament, which took place on September 24th and 25th at the Smyrna Bowling Center. The event saw participation from 492 athletes, including 218 from elementary and middle schools and 274 from high schools. Each athlete enjoyed two games of bowling, culminating in a pizza party to celebrate their achievements.

She recognized several student athletes present at the meeting, emphasizing the community's support and enthusiasm. The event was praised for its positive atmosphere, with cheers and encouragement resonating throughout the bowling alley.
Miss Ralston also expressed gratitude to Murfreesboro Parks and Recreation and the educators who facilitated the event, noting the challenges of organizing such activities. She announced plans for another Special Olympics event in the spring, focusing on field events at MTSU, and encouraged board members to attend.
