During a recent government meeting, officials in West Bend discussed the donation of two significant sculptures to enhance the city's public spaces. The first sculpture, titled \"Ribbon,\" is valued at $75,000 and will be installed in a central triangle island located between Veterans Avenue and Village Greenway in the River Shores development. The second sculpture, named \"Rib Mountain,\" also valued at $75,000, is set to be placed in Riverside Park, just north of the tennis courts.
These sculptures will be funded and maintained by the West Bend Friends of Sculpture, ensuring that the city will not incur additional maintenance costs. The sculptures are considered donations to the city, with the Friends of Sculpture retaining the first right of refusal should the city decide to remove them in the future. Additionally, the sculptures are on a five-year loan to the West Bend sculpture committee, which means they may be relocated after that period.
City officials expressed enthusiasm about the sculptures, noting their potential to enhance the community's park system and attract visitors. The meeting concluded with a motion to approve the installation of the sculptures, reflecting a collaborative effort between the city and the Friends of Sculpture to enrich West Bend's cultural landscape.
