During a recent government meeting, officials approved two significant budget amendments aimed at enhancing public safety and mental health services in Rutherford County.
The first amendment allocates $135,878 for the financial year 2024-2025, designated for the mental health patient transport approach preparation grant. These funds will be utilized for contracted transport services, reflecting the county's commitment to improving mental health support.
The second amendment involves reallocating $190,000 from restricted public safety funds. Of this amount, $65,000 will be directed towards maintenance and repair of existing buildings, while $125,000 will be invested in improvements for the drug fund building. The proposed enhancements include the addition of a lean tool for crime scene management, which is expected to aid in narcotics preservation.
Both amendments received unanimous approval from the commissioners, highlighting a collaborative effort to address critical community needs.
