Town faces traffic chaos as new expansion project looms

During a recent government meeting, local officials discussed several key developments impacting the community, particularly regarding infrastructure and safety concerns related to increased commercial activity.

Local contractor Kevin Ramey was commended for his efforts in cleaning up an area that is now clear of obstructions. The meeting also highlighted ongoing efforts to gather data for a 3D imaging project, which involves taking physical dimensions of buildings and utilizing lidar technology for accurate modeling.

A significant topic of discussion was the upcoming expansion project at the Little Washington Inn, expected to commence in the spring. This development is anticipated to bring substantial construction activity to the town. Officials noted that the Inn's distribution center is now handling approximately 70 truck deliveries per month, significantly reducing the congestion caused by large trucks blocking Main Street.

However, concerns were raised regarding pedestrian safety in the vicinity of the Inn, where an increase in employee traffic has created hazardous conditions. With around 250 employees navigating the area, officials received complaints about visibility issues, especially during darker hours. Suggestions were made to consider the installation of crosswalks and permanent speed signs to enhance safety for both pedestrians and drivers.
