In a heartfelt presentation during the recent government meeting, Chief Robinson recognized the heroic efforts of local fire and police personnel who played a crucial role in saving a life on August 9, 2024. The incident involved a 40-year-old man found unresponsive in his vehicle by two bystanders, who bravely broke a window to rescue him.
Upon their arrival, the Lehigh Police Department assisted in administering CPR, which was initially started by the bystanders. The Lehigh Fire Crew from Station 81 took over patient care, securing the airway and administering medications, ultimately achieving return of spontaneous circulation (ROSC) for the patient. Remarkably, he was transported to Mountain Point Hospital and has since been released, returning home to his family.
Chief Robinson emphasized the importance of timely and effective CPR, highlighting that the combined efforts of the bystanders, police officers, and EMS personnel were vital in this life-saving scenario. He presented lifesaving awards to the individuals involved, including Battalion Chief Jeff Smith, Captain Trent Stanley, Engineer Steve Berenson, Paramedic Zach Lucero, AEMT Kai Hedman, and Paramedic Colter Nordberg from the fire department, as well as Officers Daniel Tulak and James McLarty from the police department.
This recognition not only honors the bravery of the responders but also serves as a reminder of the critical role that community members play in emergency situations.
