During a recent government meeting, a board member of the Jackson Square Homeowners Association (HOA) raised significant concerns regarding a proposed development in the area. The member, who has overseen landscaping for the HOA for nearly a decade, highlighted critical issues related to water supply and school accessibility.
The speaker pointed out that the Napa Irrigation District's only vat, located near Eagle and Discount Tire, has been insufficient in providing adequate irrigation water for the community's common areas and lawns. Over the past ten years, the HOA has struggled to secure enough water from the Napa School District, and the anticipated new development could exacerbate the situation, potentially leading to unsightly brown landscapes due to water scarcity.
In addition to water concerns, the speaker addressed the implications of increased student enrollment from the new development on local elementary schools. Specifically, the member noted that Riverview Elementary, the school serving the area, would face challenges accommodating additional students. The lack of direct access to the school raises safety concerns, as children would either need to be bused around or walk along Eagle without sidewalks, exposing them to traffic hazards.
The HOA board member urged local officials to consider these pressing issues—water availability and student safety—before moving forward with the development plans.
