In a recent meeting, District 128 Superintendent shared exciting updates, highlighting the district's success in Unified Soccer and community initiatives. On November 2nd, the District 128 Storm Black Unified Soccer team triumphed in the state championship, defeating their fellow District 128 Storm Blue team with a score of 5 to 2. Both teams showcased remarkable performances in the semifinals leading up to the championship match. The Storm Black team members celebrated for their victory include Ben Penderson, Liana Furman, Alexis Galiadgos, Jude Donegan, Chase Miller, Parker Natal, Thomas Weisenath, Ty Sniff, and Luke Angelos. The Storm Blue team, who secured second place, featured players Charlie Sampson, Hazel Morales, Noah Hewitt, Haley Spytek, Zach Gilfand, and Alex Williams.

Additionally, the LHS Echoes Club is set to celebrate the installation of two interpretive signs as part of a ComEd Openlands grant. This event will include an unveiling of the signs, a recap of the progress made towards restoring a native shoreline plant community, and discussions on future steps.

The meeting also recognized November 15th as School Board Members Day in Illinois, honoring the dedication of District 128's school board members. Superintendent expressed gratitude for their volunteer efforts, emphasizing their role as advocates for the community and their commitment to providing a quality educational environment. The board members, who juggle various responsibilities including policy-making and budget management, were acknowledged for their significant contributions to the district and its students. Certificates of appreciation were presented to the board members in recognition of their hard work and commitment.
