Residents of a local neighborhood voiced their concerns during a recent government meeting regarding the disruptive activities associated with a nearby Airbnb property. The complaints centered around noise disturbances, traffic congestion, and the perceived misuse of the property as a party venue rather than a lodging for guests.
One resident, whose home is situated just feet from the Airbnb, detailed ongoing issues with late-night celebrations that have disrupted the peace of the neighborhood. He reported disturbances occurring as late as 4:30 AM, despite attempts by the property owner, Mr. Howell, to mitigate the situation through various measures, including installing a sound machine and video surveillance. The resident expressed frustration over the lack of effective enforcement of noise regulations, stating that while the police have been called, they often deem the activities permissible.
Another neighbor, Christopher Davis, echoed these sentiments, highlighting increased traffic and parking difficulties on nearby streets since the Airbnb began operating. He noted that the neighborhood's narrow streets have made it challenging for larger vehicles to navigate, exacerbating the situation.
Tiffany Drake, also a resident in the vicinity, criticized the Airbnb's management for failing to enforce its own rules, which prohibit parties and set quiet hours. She pointed out that the property, with its capacity for up to 11 guests, has effectively become a party house, leading to significant disturbances and a decline in the quality of life for nearby residents.
The residents collectively raised concerns about the Airbnb operating without a special exception, suggesting that the property may not be compliant with local regulations. They urged the board to take action to address the ongoing issues, emphasizing the need for stricter oversight to preserve the neighborhood's tranquility.
