In a recent government meeting, developers presented plans for two significant renovation projects aimed at revitalizing historic properties in the area.

The first project involves the restoration of a long-recognized green building, which has been a neighborhood landmark for over 50 years. Developer Chris Liberge emphasized the importance of maintaining the building's original aesthetic, opting for a green color scheme that aligns with community memory. The project will also include the installation of a small lift for accessibility, replacing an earlier plan for a ramp. The board expressed strong support for the project, highlighting its potential to enhance the West Onondaga Street area.

The second project, presented by Joe Perino of IN Architects, focuses on the adaptive reuse of the Moyer Carriage Factory site at 1920 Park Street. This initiative aims to transform two historic buildings into 59 apartments, including six affordable units, alongside approximately 5,000 square feet of commercial space. The project will involve extensive renovations, including window replacements, brick repointing, and structural reinforcements. Notably, the connector between the two buildings will be updated with new metal siding, a significant visual change from its current state.

Both projects are part of broader efforts to preserve the historical integrity of the area while providing modern amenities and housing options. The board's role is to review and comment on these developments, which are also linked to tax credit initiatives aimed at encouraging historic preservation.
