In a recent government meeting, Nixa Mayor Jared Giddens proclaimed November 30, 2024, as Small Business Saturday, emphasizing the importance of supporting local businesses. This annual event, celebrated on the first Saturday after Thanksgiving, aims to encourage residents to shop locally and recognize the vital role small businesses play in the community.
During the meeting, it was highlighted that spending on Small Business Saturday reached an estimated $17 billion in 2023, underscoring the significant economic impact of local shopping. Mayor Giddens noted that small businesses are essential drivers of innovation and job creation, embodying the American dream and the values of hard work and individual responsibility.
The proclamation also acknowledged the contributions of Nixa's small business owners to the local economy and quality of life, urging residents to support the nation's nearly 34 million independent businesses throughout the holiday season.
