The Lewisburg Area School District celebrated remarkable achievements in athletics during its Reorganization Meeting on December 5, 2024. The highlight of the evening was the recognition of the girls' and boys' cross country teams, both of which excelled at the state level, alongside the boys' soccer team, which also claimed district honors.

The girls' cross country team, coached by Mike Espinosa, made history by finishing second at the state championships, marking the first podium finish for the program. Team captain Alana Jacob and junior captain Bailey Espinosa shared their gratitude for the support from the school district and the community, emphasizing the hard work and dedication that led to their success. The team also qualified for the Nike Northeast Regional Championship, finishing 18th out of 2018 teams.

The boys' cross country team, led by coaches Ron and Jessica Hess, also celebrated a stellar season, finishing as district champions and second at states. The team maintained an impressive record of 18 wins and no losses, with Jonathan Hess earning the title of individual state champion. Coach Hess expressed his appreciation for the support from the district and highlighted the team's strong leadership and camaraderie.

Additionally, the boys' soccer team, coached by Ben Kettlewell and Steven Pavlov, was recognized for winning the district championship for the fourth time in five years. Senior captain Alex Gilmore thanked the school board and administration for their support, noting the team's successful season with 19 wins, 2 losses, and 1 tie.

The meeting underscored the importance of community support in fostering athletic excellence within the Lewisburg Area School District. As the teams look ahead to future seasons, their achievements serve as a testament to the dedication of the athletes, coaches, and the broader community.
